By Pastor Stuart Davids | Seguku Worship Center

At Seguku Worship Center, we believe that God’s Word is living and relevant for every season of our lives. In this message, Pastor Stuart Davids continues his teaching on “What Does the Lord Require of Us?” (Part 2). He highlights how the enemy is fighting marriages, the importance of walking in the fear of the Lord, and the call to live a life worthy of our heavenly calling. This sermon is both a reminder and a challenge to finish well in our walk with Christ.

The Enemy’s Attack on Marriage

Marriage, family, and faith are under attack today more than ever. As Pastor Stuart opened his sermon, he reminded us of how the enemy seeks to destroy marriages. He shared a real encounter with a couple whose marriage conflict had begun to affect them physically. This is a wake-up call: as believers, we must intentionally cultivate healthy marriages in Christ.

God Has a Plan and Destiny for You

No matter what you are facing, don’t give up! God is faithful and just. He is still transforming lives, even as we approach the final months of this year.

“You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.” Psalm 65:11 (NLT)

Hold on to hope your story is not finished yet.

What Does the Lord Require from Us?

Reading from Deuteronomy 10:12–22, Pastor Stuart emphasized that God requires us to:

  • Fear Him (give Him the first place in our lives).
  • Walk in obedience.
  • Honor Him in every area from money to relationships, from family to work.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”  Proverbs 3:5–6

Many of us are busy asking God for blessings marriage, prosperity, opportunities. Yet, God is asking for something far greater: our obedience, our reverence, and our hearts.

The Foundation of Wisdom

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” – Proverbs 9:10

Fearing God is the foundation of true wisdom, wisdom for life, business, family, and ministry. Just as faith can grow, so can wisdom, but it begins with fearing the Lord.

That is why guarding your heart is crucial. As Proverbs 4:23 reminds us, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Let God consume your heart with His Word, not arrogance, bitterness, or impurity.

Walking with God, Finishing Well

The way we finish matters greatly. Salvation is just the beginning; after that comes the journey of walking with God.

  • Abraham trusted God, even when he didn’t know where he was going (Hebrews 11:8).
  • Noah walked righteously in the midst of a corrupt generation (Genesis 6:9).
  • We, too, must walk in obedience, subjecting ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

One day, Christ, the Bridegroom, will return for His bride. The question is: Will He find us walking in His ways?

Walking Worthy of the Calling

Paul writes:

“I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”  Ephesians 4:1

To walk worthy means leaving behind impurity, sin, and worldly pride. Pastor Stuart shared how, in his younger days, sin seemed like a “hype” or source of pride. But Jesus’ grace transformed his life, and the call now is to walk in holiness.

Walking worthy means:

  • Leading our families toward heaven.
  • Loving and honoring others.
  • Living as children of light, not darkness (Ephesians 5:8).
  • Using wisdom in every decision (Ephesians 5:15).

Even in practical matters, like paying workers fairly, walking in love reflects God’s character.

A Call to Fathers and the Church

Pastor Stuart ended with a strong word for this generation: God is calling men and fathers back to righteousness. Too many have compromised with unfaithfulness and sin. But the church must rise again in holiness.

As Colossians 2:6 says, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him.”

Final Encouragement

Child of God, do you know who you are?

  • You are called to live by faith.
  • You are chosen to walk in righteousness.
  • You are empowered by grace to finish well.

Yes, principalities will oppose you, but when you walk in the fear of the Lord, His power and His presence will surround you.

Let us walk worthy of our calling, finish strong, and remain faithful until the Bridegroom comes.

Reflection Question: How are you walking with the Lord today? Will He find you faithful when He returns?

Prayer Point: “Lord, teach me to walk in Your ways, to fear You, and to finish well.”
